Local Women Soccer Stars and Volunteers Join Forces to Build Brighter Futures One Bed at a Time
Tampa, FL - Hope to Dream, Ashley, Sleep in Heavenly Peace, and Tampa Bay Sun FC united volunteers to construct beds for local children in need. The Build-a-Bed event, hosted at Tampa Bay Sun FC's practice facility, successfully produced 30 bed frames.
Tampa Bay Sun FC players traded their cleats for power tools on Sunday, working alongside community volunteers to sand, drill, and assemble bed frames. Each bed will be fully furnished with a mattress, pillows, and bedding before being delivered to families throughout the Tampa Bay area.
"The energy and dedication shown by everyone involved today was incredible," said Ruthie Bautista, Vice President of Hope to Dream. "When professional athletes, corporate partners, and community members come together for a cause like this, the impact is truly meaningful. These beds represent more than just furniture – they're a foundation for better sleep, better health, and better futures."
The event marked the first collaboration between Hope to Dream and Sleep in Heavenly Peace in the Tampa Bay area, combining the expertise and resources of both organizations to address the issue of children not having their own bed.
"Seeing our players engage with the community in such a hands-on way embodies everything our club stands for," said Kiernan Prechtl-Schindler, Director of Corporate Partnerships of Tampa Bay Sun FC. "Many of our players are parents themselves, and they understand the fundamental importance of a good night's sleep for a child's development."
The completed beds will support families identified through Sleep in Heavenly Peace's network of social services partners, schools, and community organizations.
"Every child deserves a safe, comfortable place to sleep," said Amanda Glynn, Local Chapter President of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. "Today's event demonstrates what's possible when organizations align their missions and work together to serve their community."
